Liverpool’s quest to replicate Southampton’s successful transfer policy has resulted in offers being made for all of the Saints’ remaining English players.
The Reds are also lining up a potential £6 million move for Southampton’s revolutionary ‘Black Box’ suite, where many targets are identified and scouted.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers told reporters: ‘I think everyone agrees that Southampton have become the blueprint of how to build a successful football team sensibly and prudently. In the past, we’ve splashed vast sums of money on players that haven’t delivered, but always found that those young English players we’ve brought in on the cheap, like Raheem (Sterling) and Jordon (Ibe) have come through and been a huge success. So, yeah, we want the Southampton lads, we want the black box, we wanted Paul Mitchell before Tottenham came in and took him from under our noses AGAIN. Fuck it, I’ll dress us in red and white stripes if it means we can match what Southampton did last year’.
Full back Nathaniel Clyne is expected to join in the next few days, with Jack Cork, James Ward-Prowse, Jay Rodriguez, Ryan Bertrand and Fraser Forster following over the course of the summer.
