Yohan Cabaye says that Crystal Palace’s offer was too good to refuse, as they were holding his children hostage until he agreed to join.
The 29-year-old had spent a season and a half at previous club Paris Saint-Germain, but disappointing performances led the French side to decide that he was surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes.
Now officially an Eagle, Cabaye said: ‘When Palace came in for me, I knew they were the right club. They instantly abducted my two daughters in the middle of the night, and refused to release them until I signed a contract with them.
‘It was a real no brainer’, the midfielder added.
Palace are also expected to add Charlie Austin to their ranks from Queens Park Rangers, as soon as they find a way of convincing his pet dog to get in the back of their sponsored car.
