The streets of North London are today awash with joyous Tottenham Hotspur fans after midfielder Paulinho completed his £10 million move to Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
The Brazilian playmaker will link up with former national boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, and Spurs supporters can move on from what has been a distinctly underwhelming two seasons occasionally in but usually out of the first team at White Hart Lane.
Gary Evans, from Ponders End, said: ‘I’m just relieved it’s all over, to be honest. He made me pine for Jason Dozzell. Christ, what an utter waste of time’.
George Panayiotou, of Palmers Green, remarked: ‘We’re just putting the finishing touches on the street party. Even Arsenal fans are joining in; that’s how shit he was’.
Choking back the tears, Cuffley resident Terry Darracott said: ‘And we thought it couldn’t get any worse than Gilberto. I just wish my Dad was here to see this – he’s on holiday in Malta’.
Plans for an open-top bus to parade down Tottenham High Road are expected to be confirmed once Étienne Capoue and Emmanuel Adebayor also depart the club.
