Jürgen Klopp, who announced his decision to take a year away from football when he tendered his resignation as Borussia Dortmund boss, has so far failed to remove himself from his living room sofa, with sources also claiming that he hasn’t worn trousers since late May.
The 48-year-old had initially intended to travel the world, spend more time with his family, and even perhaps learn to play the guitar, but has instead become engrossed in a variety of box sets, including ‘The Wire’ and ‘Veep’.
A friend of Klopp’s said: ‘It started off with ‘Vikings’, and just went from there. He’s got through all of ‘Mad Men’, was briefly obsessed with ‘Dexter’, and was really, really into ‘Jonathan Creek’ until the last series, which he found derivative and a little trite’.
The friend added: ‘In his defence, he has bought a guitar, but it’s still in its box in the garage. I’m not sure if he even remembers that he bought it’.
Klopp was heavily linked with the manager’s chair at both Manchester City and Liverpool, but he refused to be drawn into any speculation at the time because he was just warming up to ‘Breaking Bad’, which he initially didn’t see what all the fuss was about.
